The Hawks scored twice in the last four minutes but their rally fell short, 4-3, at Coker College.

Hayden Bell scores twice, 31st and 86th minutes, and Jabari Pompey added the third goal, 87th minute, as both freshmen registered their first career goals.

Bell’s first goal came when he took a rebound off of the post and put the ball in the back of the net, cutting the deficit to 2-1.

He later scored when Diego Gonzalez sent a cross from the left side in front of the goal where he was able to beat the goalie, bringing the score to 4-2.

Irvin Espinal sent in a pass from the left hand side that Pompey was able to head in for the final scoring of the game.

Austen Trevers got the start in goal and made four saves, while playing the entire game.

Shorter (2-9-1, 1-5 Gulf South) outshot Coker for the game 11-10 on the heels of a second half advantage of 6-2. Of the 11 shots, three were on goal, all registering scores for the Hawks, as the Cobra keeper did not register a save.

The Hawks host Gulf South Conference rival Delta State on Friday at 5 p.m.
