Shorter College students Michael Lindsey of Madison and Elizabeth Telford of Duluth received the highest scores at a recent Georgia Theatre Conference. This is the second consecutive year that Shorter has brought home both the male and female top awards.
The Georgia Theatre Conference is the screening process for the Southeastern Theatre Conference, one of the largest conferences set up to hire actors for professional, summer, and year-round acting jobs.
“Out of 300 actors auditioning at GTC, Shorter’s theater and musical theater students were extremely successful, with 66 percent of our students being passed on to SETC,” said Kathy Newman, chair of Shorter’s Theater Department.
Students who will now compete in the upcoming Southeastern Theatre Conference include Kristina Kennedy of Houston, Texas; Jamel Booth of Kingsland; Elizabeth Telford of Duluth; Jonathan Altman of Warner Robbins; Chris Lewis of Carrolton; John Carucci of Marietta; Emily Duke of McDonough; Elizabeth Booman of Spring Grove, Min.; Jennifer Spradley of Athens; Koby Parker of Douglasville; Christopher Vizzuraga of Watkinsville; Elizabeth MacDonell of Brunswick; Aeriel Gill of Huntsville, Ala.; Audrey Crocker of Jackson; Hannah Strickland of Oconee County; Sarah Brackett of Warm Springs; and Vandi Enzor of Centre, Ala.
