A Silver Creek man was in jail without bail Sunday after Floyd County police found a tear gas grenade and drugs in his residence, reports stated.

According to reports from the Floyd County Jail:

A clerk at a convenience store called police Saturday night to say Jerry Handley Harcourt, 31, of 52 Pine Ridge Drive in Silver Creek, was under the influence when he drove away in a Lincoln Continental.

Police tracked Harcourt to his house, and after he gave them permission to enter, they immediately saw a small plastic bag of suspected marijuana and what Harcourt told police was a “smoke grenade.”

During a search of the rest of the house, police found a gas mask, a bulletproof vest, a number of pills and a suspected meth pipe. Police later identified the grenade as a tear gas grenade.

Harcourt is facing felony charges of possession of an explosive device, possession of a ballistic vest by a convicted felon, possession of methamphetamines and possession of dangerous drugs. He was also charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana less than an ounce, drugs to be kept in original container and possession of drug related objects.
