What is the primary purpose of your business? Transporation between cities in Northwest Georgia and the Atlanta Airport, primarily from Rome, Calhoun, Cartersville and Kennesaw.
What is the business background of the owners? I am a veteran of 18 years in retail management, 4 years as a chemical salesman and 27 years in transportation
Why did you start (or purchase) this particular business?The primary reason for my purchase of this business was to provide quality transportation services at a reasonable price for the areas served by Shuttletran.
What makes your business unique? Shuttletran is the only shuttle service from the Rome area providing service to the Atlanta airport, Amtrak, Mega Bus and Greyhound terminals.
What do you enjoy most about your chosen profession? The opportunity to provide service to a very large segment of the population in the areas served by Shuttletran.
What has been the biggest or most interesting challenge to overcome as a small business owner? The biggest challenge is to find the drivers for our vehicles that can meet the highest of standards that are required by Shuttletran in order to provide safe, reliable and satisfactory service for our readers.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers? Shuttletran was purchased by the current owner on February 8, 1988 so we are celebrating our 25th year as owners. Shuttletran is incorporated as a business entity, but all of the stock is privately held by the Rudeseal family. We have survived numerous challenges over the years. The bankruptcy of Eastern Airlines, the terrorist attack of 9/11 which caused major problems for anyone servicing airports. For the past five years, the major concern for anyone in transportation has been the cost of fuel which requires 25 percent of our gross revenues at Shuttletran. In addition to our shuttle service, Shuttletran also provides charter coaches for all occasions, shuttle service for special events such as weddings, parties and conventions. Shuttletran also sells tour packages for various destinations with the casinos at Tunica, Miss. being our most popular tour package. Shuttletran wants to express our thanks to all the people in our area for the opportunity to serve of you over the last 25 years and look forward to providing your transportation needs in the future.
