"It's probably some kids again," Rome Public Works director Jamie McCord speculated as to the cause of what some might call a childish prank in the fountain in front of the Rome Transit Department Bus Depot in downtown Rome.

The fountain - located on the First Street side of the bus depot - was left a soapy mess this morning after McCord said it was likely that dish soap was dumped into the fountain overnight.

No real damage is done to the fountain when this happens - McCord said is common but that "it hasn't happened in a while" - but requires a crew to shut off the fountain and let it drain before it can be refilled.

Kids? Dish soap? I smell a cover-up. Rome has contracted rabies.

It takes a "crew" to drain a fountain? Sheesh, no wonder the city has budget problems.
