If you forgot that can of cranberry sauce or green beans, you’ll be hard pressed to find an open store today.

Virtually all local grocery stores will be closed today. One exception is the GMC Valu-Mart on Alabama Highway, which will be open today from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The CVS on Turner McCall will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and the CVS on Shorter Avenue will be open from 10 a.m to 8 p.m

The Walgreens on Martha Berry Boulevard across from Floyd Medical Center is a 24-hour store and will remain open today.

Both of Rome’s Walmarts are closed today but will reopen Saturday morning at 6 a.m.

Kmart on Hicks Drive will also be closed today but will reopen Saturday at 8 a.m.

TJ Maxx and Barnes and Noble will both reopen at 9 a.m. at the Riverbend shopping center.

Mount Berry Square mall will reopen Saturday at 7 p.m.

HOLIDAY CLOSINGS

All banks will be closed today for the Christmas holiday.

City, county and state offices are also closed, and the Rome-Floyd County Library will be closed through Saturday.

Federal offices are also closed, and no mail will be delivered.

The city will not pick up garbage today, and the county’s remote dump sites will be closed. The Rome Transit Department will not run its bus service.

The Department of Driver Services in Rome will be closed today and Saturday.
