Students from Saint Mary’s Catholic School recently participated in the Archdiocese of Atlanta oratorical contest sponsored by Modern Woodmen of America.

Students competing in the contest, which took place at Saint Mary’s School, shared their presentations on this year’s topic, “Someone Who Has Overcome.”

The winners were Flynn Higgins, first place; Mary Jo McCormick, second place; and Morgan Padgett , third place. Each student received a trophy and a gold award pin, and their names will be engraved on the school’s speech contest plaque. Gold award pins were also given to the next nine finalists: Ripley Bennett, Griffin Brumbelow, Quinn Desmond, Karen Flores, Elizabeth Hudson, Sophie Sebuh, Gracie Sutphin, Clayton Tillery and Nelson Walker.

Flynn Higgins will represent Saint Mary’s in the third round of the archdiocesan oratorical contest on April 25th at Blessed Trinity High School in Roswell.
