An Armuchee High School student was arrested Monday and charged with a misdemeanor weapon crime after police say he had two pocketknives in his vehicle at the school.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Arnold Hasko, 17, of 41 Trillium Trail, was charged with misdemeanor carrying a deadly weapon to a public gathering.

Armuchee Principal James Burris said Hasko’s vehicle was parked illegally on campus, and when it was searched “two large pocketknives” were found inside. Burris said the school’s resource officer made the decision to arrest Hasko.

“Of course, we’re taking action here according to board policy and state law,” he said.

The principal said a decision about further discipline from the school will be decided after meeting with the teen’s parents.

Floyd County Jail records stated that Hasko “transported to Armuchee High School two folding lock-blade knives, both have blade lengths in excess of three inches.”

He was released from jail Monday afternoon on $1,350 bail.
