Chattooga County law enforcement officials said that Saturday night’s ATV crash victim and passenger may not have been wearing protective equipment.

Officials said that a 16-year-old Chattooga County male, identified as Danny Tyler Corn, died around 7:30 p.m. Saturday due to injuries from the crash.

Georgia State Patrol communication officer Joseph Swords said Corn and a 14-year-old passenger were traveling west off Holland-Chattoogaville Road and onto Ga. 114.

Corn apparently lost control of the Honda TRX-300 ATV four-wheeler, sideswiped a parked car, struck a mailbox and then collided head-on with a tree.

Both riders were ejected.

Corn’s body was sent to the GBI state crime lab in Atlanta. The 14-year-old was flown to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga and was listed in stable condition.
