Friday, March 15, is the Ides of March – the day in 44 B.C. Julius Caesar was assassinated.

The “ides” is a word used for the 15th day in four different months: March, May, July and October. The Ides of March is a well-known phrase because of William Shakespeare’s play “Julius Caesar,” in which Caesar is warned by a fortuneteller to beware that day.

Caesar was stabbed to death March 15, 44 B.C., in the Roman Senate.
