Where Romans Rest: Myrtle Hill Cemetery Tours allow visitors to learn more about the permanent residents of the cemetery holding the greatest heroes and heroines of Rome's past. Spectators will firsthand see and hear their stories and significance to Rome's development into a modern city. Tours depart at 10:00, 10:30, 11:00, 11:30am and 12pm from Veteran's Plaza at the front of the cemetery. The cemetery dates to 1857 and is the final resting place for 20,000 of Rome's most notable residents including 400 Civil War graves.
Haunted on Broad: Haunted History & Ghost Lore brings visitors throughout Downtown Rome to discover the history and lore of ghosts as told by the Seven Hills Tellers, a local organization of storytellers. The 2012 tours will focus on the back half of the Between the Rivers Historic District, an area once occupied by the original campus of Shorter College. Tours begin at 7:30, 8:00, 8:30 and 9:00pm and leave from the parking lot of Heritage Hall off Glenn Milner Blvd.
Admission to either tour is $8 for adults and $5 for children under 12. Both tours are a moderate to strenuous walk with steep steps and slopes involved. Stories are not intended for young children.
