Fire department personnel shoot water up under a travel trailer on the Coosa Valley Farigrounds Sunday aroun 6:30 p.m. The trailer is owned by one of the families associated with Wade Shows which provides the carnival rides for the fair. Damages were pretty much contained to the undercarriage of the trailer as a brake issue is believed to have ignited the fire. (Doug Walker / Rome News-Tribune))
John Ketcham was helping his daughter Sara Ketcham park the trailers when a brake stuck, apparently heating up to a point where a brake drum caught on fire.
Lance Wheeler, the caretaker at the fairgrounds, said fire was shooting out from under the trailer and the first thing he did was to make sure that there were no propane tanks close to the blaze. Rome-Floyd County firefighters extinguished the fire without incident.
Ketcham, a rides supervisor associated with Wade Shows, said damages to the interior of the trailer were negligible.
