The Alabama man in jail on a charge of conspiring to commit murder is a Polk County government employee, according to a Georgia Bureau of Investigation official.
Bobby Lee Hulsey, 39, of 2345 County Road 8, Piedmont, Ala., was arrested around 3:15 p.m. Aug. 26 on a Polk County Sheriff's Office warrant, according to the jail docket. He remains in the Polk County Jail.
Georgia Bureau of Investigation Special Agent in Charge Jerry Scott said Hulsey was arrested at a Polk County work site without incident.
The charge against Hulsey stems from him allegedly plotting to kill a Department of Family and Children Services worker, Scott said.
Hulsey’s children had been taken from him in a custody dispute, according to the GBI. Scott said it is unclear whether Hulsey was divorced or in the process of divorce.
“Somebody went to the Rockmart Police Department with information and we assisted them in the investigation,” he said.
Scott said no additional arrests are expected.
The GBI was in charge of the investigation, which lasted about a month and a half, with Special Agent April Wren working the case, Scott said.
Other agencies involved in the investigation include the Rockmart Police Department and the Polk County Police Department, he said.
