Rome police are investigating a report of a theft on Friday from a couple’s storage unit located on Flannery Street where several items were stolen, including a woman’s mother’s ashes, according to a Rome police report.

According to the report:

The victim told police she and her husband were staying at another couple’s house one night. Her husband, she said, left a backpack containing some clothes and their storage unit keys at the couple’s house on South Blanche Avenue.

She told police that after that, the couple was acting very strange and wouldn’t let either her or her husband in their home. They handed him his backpack outside and he noticed the keys were missing.

The victim said she saw that the couple’s child was wearing an outfit exactly like her child’s outfit that was in the storage unit.

The victim went to the storage unit and saw many items had been stolen. She had the lock replaced.

A washer and dryer set, four hope chests, six water globes, a dresser, a large mirror with a gold frame, a football-shaped toy box, several vases and a black urn with gold stripes containing her mother’s ashes were stolen.

Police were given the names and address of the suspects.
