The teenage driver of a Nissan SUV received only minor injuries after his vehicle overturned on Eden Valley Road around 5 p.m. Saturday.
According to Floyd County police at the scene:
A 2001 gold Nissan XTerra, driven by 16-year-old Benjamin Hellriegel of Silver Creek, was traveling west on Eden Valley Road around 5 p.m. Police said around the 500 block, while going downhill on the rain-slicked road, he apparently lost control.
The SUV went off the road and apparently flipped several times before landing on the driver's side in a ditch along the eastbound lane.
Hellriegel was taken to Floyd Medical Center. Police said he was complaining of a wrist injury but was conscious and alert.
Traffic was slowed on Eden Valley Road for about an hour while emergency crews worked the scene.
