MEDINAH, Ill. (AP) — Bubba Watson and Webb Simpson are leading a U.S. charge through the afternoon sessions at the Ryder Cup.

After tying Europe 2-2 in foursomes, the Americans have solid leads in three of the fourball matches. Watson and Simpson birdied all but two holes on the front nine, and were 6 up on Paul Lawrie and Peter Hanson at the turn. Keegan Bradley and Phil Mickelson kept up their solid play from the morning and had a lead on Europe's top team, Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell.

And Dustin Johnson and Matt Kuchar are rolling after a slow start, going up 2 with back-to-back birdies.

Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker are still trying to get on track after their rough start in foursomes. After going 1 up with Woods' birdie on the first hole, they're back to all square with Lee Westwood and Nicolas Colsaerts, Europe's only rookie, through five holes.
