A flood watch is in effect for Floyd and other north Georgia counties until this evening, as heavy rains continue in the area. So far today, 2.37 inches of rain has been collected at Richard B. Russell Regional Airport.

The Etowah River at the bypass was at around 24 feet this afternoon (flood stage is 32 feet) and the Oostanaula at Turner McCall Boulevard was approximately 17 feet this afternoon. It is expected to crest within action stage on Tuesday.

The Rome-Floyd Recreation Authority has canceled all of today's rec league games, and activities at YMCA's Grizzard Park also are canceled. League tennis has been canceled as well.

Weather was likely a factor in a single vehicle wreck on U.S. 411 this morning that resulted in no injuries, according to Floyd County Police.

The small SUV flipped on its side around 8:30 a.m. Monday, said Floyd County Police Corporal MC Chewning.
