Officials Thursday identified the woman killed in a wreck near the intersection of Ga. 113 and U.S. 278 in Rockmart on Wednesday.

Ivanette Alexander Turner, 86, of Rockmart, was killed when the 1991 Chevrolet Caprice Classic she was a passenger in was struck by a tractor-trailer.

According to Rockmart police Chief Keith Sorrells:

Turner’s husband, James Alfred Turner, 87, was airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center. His condition is not being released.

James Turner was driving east on U.S. Highway 278 at about 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday when he attempted to turn onto Peacock Drive in front of Walmart, 1801 Nathan Dean Bypass.

Turner turned left in front of a tractor-trailer driven by Gregory Scott Smith of Dallas. Smith was not injured. A Dallas company owns the truck.

No charges will be filed, according to Sorrells.
