According to Battalion Chief Phil Langston, the fire was near the top of a ridge and had burned nearly half an acre, but it did not pose a threat to residences around the bottom of the hill.
“It’s just gotten dry up there,” Langston said. “Fortunately the wind isn’t blowing so it’s just a slow burn.”
Langston said they did not know how the fire started.
The Georgia Forestry Commission was called to bring in their equipment and clear around the fire.
