A Cartersville woman has been charged with murder after she allegedly stabbed 81-year-old Mattie Jenkins of a Cardinal Court address in Cartersville late last week. Jenkins died Sunday.

According to the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office:

Jenkins was stabbed on Friday, May 22, and transported to Cartersville Medical Center. She then was airlifted to Kennestone Hospital. On Sunday, officers received word that Jenkins had died as a result of her wounds.

Investigators have charged Katie Browning, 41, of 11 Cardinal Court with one count of murder and one count of aggravated assault.

She remains in the Bartow County Jail pending a bond hearing.
