A head-on collision in Armuchee on Friday afternoon sent four people to area hospitals.

According to Sgt. John Blalock of the Floyd County Police Department:

A gray Honda Pilot driven by 73-year-old Joyce Turner of Rome was traveling northbound on Old Dalton Road shortly after 1 p.m. She apparently crossed over the center line and crashed into a white Honda Accord driven by 16-year-old Kristen Burbank of Rydal driving south on Old Dalton.

The collision happened in the 1200 block of Old Dalton Road. Both vehicles were heavily damaged and were towed from the roadway around 2 p.m. Old Dalton Road was closed in both directions while emergency crews worked the scene.

Turner, Burbank and 18-year-old Rachel Wood of Adairsville — a passenger in Burbank’s car — were all taken to Redmond Regional Medical Center. Mary Blanton, 87, a passenger in Turner’s SUV, was taken to Floyd Medical Center.

Blalock said Turner would be cited for driving on the wrong side of the road.
