Groundbreaking for the new Bartow County Civic Center will be at 10 a.m. July 1 at the site of the project, Ga. 20 across from Georgia Highlands College’s Cartersville campus.

The project is funded by a $20 million SPLOST approved in 2008, and an additional $100,000 technology grant awarded by the Appalachian Regional Commission. Attending the groundbreaking will be Bartow County government officials; representatives from Bartow County municipalities including Cartersville, Adairsville, Euharlee, White, Emerson and Kingston; and members of the governing committee composed of representatives from the Cartersville-Bartow County Convention & Visitors Bureau, Cartersville-Bartow County Economic Development Authority, Cartersville-Bartow County Chamber of Commerce and interested residents and community leaders.

The center’s official name will be announced at the groundbreaking.

The new civic center will be silver level LEED certified, and will feature a 45,000 square foot conference facility.
