A man who police say stole two pickled sausages from a convenience store and then pushed the clerk into a display to get away has been arrested, reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Robert Markez Barnett, 20, of 211 Leafmore Road, Apt. B, Rome, stole the sausages, valued at 99 cents each, from a South Broad Street convenience store at around 10:40 p.m. on Jan. 29.

When the convenience store’s clerk called 911, Barnett pushed the clerk and ran away.

Barnett is charged with shoplifting and simple battery, both misdemeanors.

He remained in the Floyd County Jail on Friday evening.

I'm with you twisted. Maybe we need to have a legal defense fund raiser to make sure Markez gets a fair trial. "Yo! I tried to pay fo' the sausages, dog. I mean, yo' Honor."

When this story was first posted it said that the clerk asked the man about the sausages and he tried to pay for them but the cleark refused to take his money, at that point he pushed the clerk out of the way and left. Was there a legal reason that RN-T changed the story? is less info better? those facts seemed very pertinent to me...
