Alexis Prasinos, owner of Gondolier Pizza, answers the questions for today’s Small Business Snapshot.

What is the primary purpose of your business? Serving wholesome food to customers and providing food deliveries to the people of Rome.

What is your business background? I have over 25 years in the restaurant business. I have worked in various restaurant locations in Greece and around the United States including Illinois, Florida, New York and now Georgia.

Why did you start this particular business? We saw the need for a quality restaurant in the Rome location back in 1997. Roughly 15 years ago, there weren’t many choices of the locals so opening up this restaurant was a good choice for the community.

What makes your business unique? Our very extensive menu offers so many different choices to our customers and our quality dishes are guaranteed to satisfy any customer.

What do you enjoy most about your chosen profession? Being an integral part of this community by serving good, quality food to our customers.

What has been the biggest challenge to overcome as a small business owner? The most difficult challenge has been trying to keep our customers happy by keeping the costs of our dishes down with the ever-increasing food prices in such a tough economy.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers? We are collaborating with John Thomas and introducing some popular seafood dishes from the recently closed “Country Gentleman.” These dishes have been community favorites for many years so for that reason we have decided to offer them here at Gondolier Pizza. We are very excited about offering some of the most well-loved Country Gentleman dishes to our community, sharing them on our website www.gondolierpizzaromega.com and our new Facebook page Gondolier Pizza-Rome Georgia.

Gondolier Pizza has been open at that Rome location a lot longer than 15 years. I can remember eating in that particular Gondolier as far back as 1992 or 1993. The place has good food but there were just as many restaurant choices in Rome then as there are today.
