The Coosa River Basin Initiative and the Rome/Floyd ECO Center will hold two summer nature camps June 18-22 and June 25-29.

The camps, which will run from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day, are open to children entering grades 3-5; cost is $125 per camper.

“Any child that likes getting wet and dirty in nature will love this camp!” said Amos Tuck, CRBI program coordinator.

During the camp at the new Rome-Floyd County ECO River Center at Ridge Ferry Park, local naturalists from CRBI and the River Center will engage children in learning about their local environment through educational activities, games, art and hands-on interaction with nature. Each day’s curriculum will revolve around specific themes, ranging from local rivers to local wildlife.

The camp will end with a river tour of Rome on the Roman Holiday and the official naturalist pinning ceremony.
