Davies Homeless Shelter to benefit from 2nd annual Tri For The Shelter triathlons

Next weekend, novice and seasoned triathletes of all ages will converge on Rocky Mountain Recreation Area to compete in RACE Rome and Rome Orthopaedic Center’s 2nd Annual Tri For The Shelter Olympic and Youth Triathlons. Proceeds benefit the William S. Davies Homeless Shelter.

The Saturday, June 23 olympic race features a 1 mile lake swim, 25 mile bike and 6 mile run. Not ready to compete alone? Relay teams are welcome and encouraged. Registration is $85 for individuals and $105 for relay teams.

A youth triathlon will follow on Sunday, June 24. Ages 7 to 9 will complete a 50 yard lake swim, 2.4 mile bike ride and half mile run. Ages 10 to 14 will swim 100 yards, bike 4.8 miles and run 1 mile. Registration is $45.

Both races are USAT sanctioned and awards will be given to top finishers. All youth racers will receive medals. Registration for both races closes on June 19. For more information and to register, visit racerome.org or call (706) 296-7103.

The Racing Awareness Charity Events of Rome (RACE Rome) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to support local charities through unique multisport outdoor events designed to promote the community, improve quality of life, develop trails and provide participants with healthy and wholesome outdoor competition.

The Tri For The Shelter Triathlons are two of eight races presented by RACE Rome and Rome Orthopaedic Center.
