Ford, Gittings and Kane Jewelers, 312 Broad St., will kick off their third annual Kick-Back to the Community campaign Thursday, August 16.

Kick-Back is a campaign driven by “fans” to help provide revenue to a number of non-profits in the Rome community.

The Boys and Girls Club of Rome, Cancer Navigators and Hospitality House are the three charities that will benefit from the Kick-Back to the Community project this fall.

Each organization will have volunteers selling bid cards for $10. Purchasers of the bid cards then participate in a si-lent auction at Ford, Gittings and Kane from August 16 through 2 p.m. August 25.

All of the funds from the purchase of the bid cards is re-turned to the charity that sold them. 10 percent of the pur-chase price of the various auction items will be returned to the charities.

If a customer seeks to purchase a bid card on behalf of some other charity, that is also an option by purchasing the gift card directly from the staff at Ford, Gittings and Kane. “The Susan G. Komen Foundation gets a write-in every year,” said Jan Fergerson at Ford, Gittings and Kane.

Fergerson said the charities could take in thousands of dollars from the event as items, which are being, auctioned retail anywhere from a $100 up to $5,000 or more.
