A Rome man was injured in a three-vehicle wreck at the intersection of Shorter Avenue and Sherwood Road shortly before 4 p.m. Wednesday.

According to Rome police officer Aaron Thacker:

A gray Honda CR-V driven by Donald Dowless, 55, of Sherwood Road, was on Shorter Avenue attempting to turn left onto Sherwood when a white Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck that was traveling south on Shorter Avenue ran into the car’s passenger side.

The Honda CR-V was pushed into a gold Kia Optima driven by Nancy Mount, 49, of Amberwood Court, Kingston, who was waiting at the red light on Sherwood Road. The Kia sustained damage to its front driver side quarter panel.

Dowless was taken to Floyd Medical Center with back pain. He was cited with failure to yield when turning left.

The driver of the Silverado, Charles Callan, 39, of Chateau Drive, and Mount both said that the light was yellow for both Dowless and Callan.
