A bicyclist that collided with a car near La Marie’s restaurant on Broad Street on Friday afternoon was released from Floyd Medical Center after treatment, an FMC spokeswoman said Friday evening.

According to PFC Glenn Johnson with the Rome Police Department:

A car coming from the restaurant struck Joseph Vaughn, 19, of Rome, who was riding his bicycle on the sidewalk.

Vaughn was thrown to the ground and was telling officers he was OK, but then asked officers what happened. He was taken to FMC to be evaluated.

The driver of the car will not be cited. Bicyclists are not supposed to ride on the sidewalks, Johnson said.
