Man accused of stealing from gaming machine

Police charged a Floyd County man with felony second degree criminal damage to property, felony aggravated assault and felony theft by taking after he allegedly took money from a gaming machine and threatened someone, according to Floyd County Jail reports.

According to the reports:

Jason Jerome Smith, 33, 296 Canard Road, is accused of taking up to $1,000 from the machine at the Citgo, 1928 Shorter Ave., on Sunday evening.

He did more than $500 damage to the machine when he broke into it with a hammer and screwdriver.

He held the hammer over the victim’s head during the incident, according to the reports. Smith remained in jail Monday night without bond.
