Columbus State was named the new No. 4 team in the country a few hours before kick-off, and they came to Ben Brady Field and showed why, handing the Lady Hawks a home loss, 5-1.

CSU scored just over 2 minutes into the game, and had aggressive play all night long. The Lady Cougars finished with 27 shots in the win.

Shorter was able to tally 10 shots, with Aline Bez Tamiosso getting half of those and also scoring the lone goal in the 89th minute.

Sophomore Katie Stachula started in goal, earning her first playing time for the season. She faced 18 shots, and made 13 saves.

The pre-game festivities paid tribute to September 11, with a presentation of colors from the Rome Fire Department and a moment of silence in remembrance of the acts from 11 years ago.
