Rome man charged with child molestation, remains in jail

A Rome man remained in jail Friday night after he was charged with a felony count

of child molestation and a misdemeanor count of distribution of obscene materials to minors, according to a Floyd County Jail report.

According to the report:

George Virgil Washington, 39, of 16 Spring Creek St., was charged after he allegedly sent a sexual picture message to a child. He also allegedly sent a sexually explicit text request to a minor.
