Fastenal, a leading supplier of construction type equipment, has agreed to relocate from 110 E. Eighth Ave. to the former Blockbuster location in the out parcel between Kmart and the Etowah Crossing shopping center.

“We need more showroom space because the business is growing,” said store manager Dustin Rikard. “We’ll also have more warehouse space and have the ability to stock a wider variety of products for customers.

The move will give Fastenal approximately 50 percent more space than its current 3,000-square-foot facility. The Blockbuster site includes 4,500 square feet.

Rikard said Fastenal, which supplies items ranging from hard hats to safety glasses, nuts and bolts, has been in the East Eighth Avenue location for close to 15 years.

R.H. Ledbetter Properties is going to install a roll-up door on the back side of the old Blockbuster building, construct one office, paint the walls and pull up the carpet and tile on the floor leaving a bare concrete floor. “Not a huge remodel,” Rikard said.

Rikard said that, at this point, he expects to complete the move to the new location by Dec. 1, 2012.
