Showers and thunderstorms possible throughout the day, clearing up Wednesday

Floyd County can expect showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before 5 p.m. today, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

So far we've gotten 2.25 inches of rain as of 2 p.m. according to the rain gauge at Richard B. Russel Regional Airport.

Today's high will be near 78 with 100 percent chance of rain and new rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Tonight there is a chance of showers, mainly before 8 p.m. with mostly cloudy skies and a low around 55. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Wednesday Sunny, with a high near 78. North wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Wednesday Night Mostly clear, with a low around 50. North wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Thursday Sunny, with a high near 80. Calm wind becoming northeast around 5 mph in the afternoon.
