A man apparently dressed as a competitor’s mascot handed out free food and took pictures with children at the West Rome McDonald’s on Monday afternoon, according to Rome Police reports.

According to the report:

Rome Police were called to the restaurant at 2215 Shorter Ave. at approximately 1 p.m. by a manager in reference to a suspicious person.

When they arrived, the manager said that a man dressed as the mascot for Burger King entered the restaurant with bags of hamburgers and began handing them out to several customers.

He danced while inside the restaurant and stopped to take pictures with children. The report states that one child took a picture with him and ran away as he appeared to be scared.

When the manager approached the man he said he was collecting for children’s charities. She noted that he had not collected any money during his time inside the restaurant.

The subject then got into a white Acura. The manager saw him take off his mask and he appeared to be a middle age white male with dark hair.

The tag on the car came back to a 2001 white Acura belonging to a Calhoun man.

In regard to he who will not be mentioned, the best way to get people like this to shut up is to ignore them, not respond to them. Same thing for trollers.

Looks like the police had some sort of sense of humor and recognized that it was simply a prank. In some cities (I won't mention which) he might have been shot "resisting arrest" when they came to his home and tried to haul him off to jail.

Now let's see if McDonalds can come up with something original that is just as funny.

The video and the police report were kind of funny.. but that's what it was.. kind of funny. I loved it when he was posing with that kid. I'm glad the Woodcreek Faction got the coverage they needed to feel important.

It's pretty funny. Most of us were punks at that age and did stupid stuff. Leave 'em alone.

'at that age?' These are not kids. But the attitude you display by calling someone a punk for no reason is spot on for you.

You people have got to be kidding me. This story is stinking hilarious. I can see this in Athens or Atlanta, but in West Rome? Makes it more funny! Leave it to a bunch of simpltons who have no sense of humor to be surprised and offended. I think the fact that there is a police report is pitiful enough.

As a Rome native, these comments are embarrassing! You should be making fun of "crawfish" and others instead of intelligently trying to sway him... he doesn't deserve any thing but belittling!

Thank you! I cracked up when I first read it! Then, after reading the comments, I went back up and read it again, thinking I MUST have missed something in the article for there to be such an uproar.

Nope. Just a hilarious event. I wish I'd seen it!

Craw,

You're really showing your desperation when you have to resort to correcting someone's grammar as a point of arguement.

While we're on the subject, though, your sentence "It's "too" not "to" by the way in your "to obvious"" is confusing. You need to use commas to indicate where the pauses should be, as in "It's "too", not "to" by the way, in your "to obvious..."

If you yourself can't write correctly, you have no right to correct others.

Crawfish,

I ALWAYS use the same screen name when commenting on anything on this site, regardless of my position.

Also, I did get your point; you didn't get mine. I was simply pointing out that if you'd had a valid point about the topic at hand, you wouldn't have resorted to correcting someone else's grammar when you obviously can't even construct a proper sentence yourself.

By the way, may I ask how old you are? Based on the know-it-all sarcasm of your posts on this and other topics, I'd estimate about 14-17.

Crawfish.creek You really do have some issues just by reading all of the assumptions you are making. Unless you were there, there is no need for you to make negative comments regarding what happened. If he is guilty of anything he would be guilty of making people laugh, smile and brightening some peoples day. Even all of the employees breifly took a second to take a picture or video of him. To be honest with you, it was very entertaining. I was watching him the entire time he was there and if a child did get scared they didn't make it to obvious because it didn't cause any kind of scene. Also, he never refused to leave. Once he was confronted, he happily danced his way out the door.

Like I mentioned before, unless you were there then you have no right to comment on what actually happened. No, I do no think scaring kids is "fun and games". I clearly stated that I didn't notice any kid getting "scared" the whole time I was watching him...in fact, the parents there were the ones taking pictures of their kids and "The Burger King" so apparently they didn't feel as if he was a threat to them or their children.

I do hope I am at the next place he decides to visit so I can thank him for bringing smiles to some many different peoples faces, including myself.

I do hope you will lighten up more and enjoy the little things in life...maybe you can think of something you approve of that will bring a smile to someone elses face. Life is to short to always be so negative. Have a great day =)

None of you would be concerned about your child if it was Ronald McDonald taking pictures and dancing with your child. He came into McDonalds as a Burger King mascot and did absolutely nothing wrong. If you had read the actual paper the cops did go to his house and talked to him. He told the officers what he was doing. He wasn’t luring any children into his car or touching kids inappropriately, so get a grip. Stop assuming he did something to these kids, BECAUSE HE DIDN’T!!!!!! It was a funny joke, no harm towards anyone…take a joke and move on with your lives.

This man is part of a local comedy team that produces videos. He and his group have also appeared on Comedy Central. I'm sure when the cops found out who he was after running the tag, they knew that he was harmless. Look up videos by The Woodcreek Faction on Youtube. They are hilarious
