“We offer general services like translation of documents, helping with immigration forms that don’t require the help of a lawyer,” Meza said. “The major thing is to help them deal with the courts in simple situations.” She will be taking her exam in December to become a court certified interpreter. She was able to help in that situation while working as a probation officer however she could not charge for her translation services because she was not certified yet.
“We wire money to our countries. A lot of them don’t trust in banks so they prefer to buy cash cards,” Meza said. She also assists with passport photos.
Meza also said that she is taking online classes to be able to sell insurance to members of the Latino community.
