The United Way’s Unity Run 2012 will launch at Gordon Central High School today with a 5 p.m. 1K Kids’ Run followed by a 6:30 p.m. 5K Run and will wrap up in the heart of downtown Calhoun.

The registration fee for the 4-12 year olds’ 1K is $15, and the fee for the adults’ 5k is $25.

Transportation will be provided before the run, beginning at 4:30 p.m. at the Calhoun Depot. Runners can park there and ride the bus to the starting point.

There will also be a raffle for a Vision Komodo Grill that is valued at over $700.

The raffle tickets will be sold at The United Way Office in the Calhoun Depot, Calhoun KOA Campground, 2523 Redbud Road, Fitness First 610 Redbud Road and the NorthSide Bank 1300 Lovers Lane Road. Tickets are $10 each.

Tickets will also be sold at the finish line of the Unity Run today and at Harvest Fest in downtown Calhoun on Oct. 27, but only 400 tickets will be sold.

The drawing for the grill will held at Calhoun KOA’s “Smokin up the Campground” BBQ Contest, that will be held from Nov. 30 through Dec. 1. The winner will be drawn at 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 1.

The winner of the drawing does not need to be present to win. All proceeds will go directly to the Gordon County United Way, according to The United Way press release.
