A Rome man was arrested Wednesday on first-degree forgery charges, according to Floyd County Jail reports.

According to the reports:

Christopher Michael Brown, 23, of 49 Green and Gold Blvd., was charged with three counts of felony forgery in the first degree, one count of felony negotiating counterfeit checks and two counts of misdemeanor theft by deception.

Brown is accused of forging three checks between October 2011 and January 2012 made out to himself in the amounts of $328.45, $392.43 and $371.31 and cashing them at local convenience stores.

Each one was supposedly issued by three different businesses but banks later confirmed that the account numbers on the checks were not associated with the businesses on the checks.

Brown remained in jail Wednesday night on $2,600 bond but had a hold on him by Gordon County.
