CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Police in North Carolina have arrested a Georgia man for the shooting death of a man in Charlotte.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police on Thursday charged 26-year-old Connell Montigo Muskelly of Augusta, Ga., with murder.

Police were called to a west Charlotte neighborhood around 4:15 a.m. Thursday and found 25-year-old Johnny Peay. He was taken to Carolinas Medical Center where he died about 45 minutes later.

Muskelly was arrested about five hours later.

Detectives said it appeared that Peay was shot in the back. Investigators say they think Peay and Muskelly knew each other.

It was not clear if Muskelly has a lawyer.
