Mr. and Mrs. Christopher L. Smith of Rome announce the engagement of their daughter, Kristin Nichole Smith, to Christopher Adam Sauchak, son of Jane Sauchak of Canton, Mich. and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Sauchak of Woodhaven, Mich.

Miss Smith is a 2001 honor graduate of Rome High School and a 2005 graduate of Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and political science. She is employed by Edelman in Los Angeles.

The bride-elect is the sister of Meredith Johnson of Malden, Mass. She is the granddaughter of Beth Nesbit and Catherine Smith, both of Rome, the late William Guy Nesbit, the late Brenda Nesbit and the late Stewart Smith.

Sauchak is a 2001 graduate of Plymouth-Canton High School in Canton, Mich. and a 2005 graduate of Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Television, Radio and Film. He is employed by Visual Data Media Services, Inc. in Burbank, Calif. The groom-elect is the brother of Leigh Sauchak of Los Angeles. He is the grandson of the late Lester and Theolene Saeman and the late Walter and Joyce Sauchak.

The wedding ceremony and reception is planned for November 4, 2012 at Carondelet House in Los Angeles. A local reception is planned for February at the Rome Area History Museum in Rome. Invitations will be sent.
