With their work boots sloshing around in the mud, Coosa Valley Fair workers were busy setting up rides and booths on Monday, said Fair Association President Cathy Kerce, who considered yesterday’s rain a minor hindrance.
“They are used to setting up in this kind of weather,” Kerce said.
The National Weather Service estimated Monday’s rainfall to be between a quarter and half an inch. Kerce said the only factor that could slow things down would be bad weather while the rides are on the road to Rome.
“The only thing that would affect the fair — a lot of stuff is coming in today — so if they run into bad weather while they’re transporting, that could delay some of the rides from getting here,” she said.
According to the National Weather Service, there will be a 10-percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 a.m. today. There will be a mostly cloudy sky with high near 75.
Tonight: Mostly cloudy with a low around 55.
Wednesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 78.
Wednesday night: Partly cloudy, low around 52.
Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 82.
Thursday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 54.
Friday: Sunny, with a high near 84.
Friday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 56.
Saturday: A 20-percent chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 78.
