Police arrested a man Thursday after he allegedly forced a 17-year-old woman into his vehicle and took her against her will, according to Floyd County Jail reports.

According to the reports:

Matthew Zachary Otting, 19, of 23A Woodberry Drive, Silver Creek, is accused of going to the residence where the victim was staying Tuesday, taking her cell phone when she attempted to call 911 and putting her into his truck.

He then allegedly hit her in the head several times with a closed fist as they were traveling down the road and into Polk County where two Polk County Sheriff deputies pulled the truck over on a traffic stop.

The victim jumped out of the truck as soon as it stopped and ran to the deputies’ patrol car. The suspect then drove off and was pursued by one of the Polk County deputies for a short while before he wrecked and fled on foot.

Floyd County police arrested Otting after he tried to elude custody by leaping from a 20-foot high balcony into a wooded area.

He was charged with felony aggravated stalking, felony first-degree cruelty to children and felony kidnapping as well as misdemeanor obstruction of a law enforcement officer, misdemeanor battery and misdemeanor interference with a person making an emergency call.

Otting remained in jail Thursday night without bond.
