Rome man charged with manufacturing marijuana

A Rome man remained in jail on Friday after the Metro Drug Taskforce found marijuana plants growing in his home as well as a stolen firearm, according to a Floyd County Jail report.

According to the report:

Erin Patrick Ely, 44, of 309 McDonald St., was charged with felony counts of possession of more than an ounce of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, manufacturing marijuana, theft by receiving stolen property and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Ely was arrested late Thursday night after the execution of a search warrant. Officers found several marijuana plants in his home, as well as three firearms and a stolen .25 caliber Beretta handgun. After investigating the serial number, police discovered the gun was stolen from Polk County.

Ely remained in jail without bond.
