Police: Man arrested after fleeing police in August

Police caught a man who allegedly led them on a brief chase that resulted in him hopping out of a rolling automobile back on August 15, reports stated.

According to Floyd County jail records:

Jamil Deshawn Floyd, 20, 131 Dodd Boulevard, Rome faces a slew of charges from the incident.

Police allege that Floyd fled from officers and was running over 60 mph in a 40 mph zone on Callier Springs Road before he finally jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot.

The vehicle then rolled into a gatepost causing some damage to private property.

Floyd was charged with felony driving on a suspended or revoked license, felony fleeing and attempting to elude police and a number of misdemeanors including reckless driving, failing to maintain a lane as well as hit and run.

Floyd is being detained in the Floyd County jail without bond on the two felony charges.
