A RADIO talk show host once stated that every citizen should be required to take an intelligence test before voting. After reading the letter to the editor entitled “GOP blocks jobs bill for veterans,” I agree with him.

The writer says that Republicans blocked the bill in the Senate to prevent Obama from getting credit for it so close to the election. She hopes that the public will elect Democratic senators and regain control of the Senate.

May I state the facts ? Democrats have had control of the Senate for Obama’s entire term and they had control of the House of Representatives for his first two years.

Republicans have only had control of the House of Representatives for the last two years. They never had control of the Senate.

Get your facts straight before you speak. The Senate Majority Leader, a Democrat, has blocked and not even brought bills before the Senate that are sent over by the Republican House of Representatives. That is why our country needs new leadership in Congress and a new president.

Our country is suffering because of deadlock in Congress.

I hope and pray that Republicans will gain control of the Senate, keep control of the House of Representatives, and the voters will elect a new president. America needs new leadership and voters who search out the facts before trying to influence others.

Jo Ann,

I disagree with your analysis of what ails our country.

You Wrote:Get your facts straight before you speak. The Senate Majority Leader, a Democrat, has blocked and not even brought bills before the Senate that are sent over by the Republican House of Representatives. That is why our country needs new leadership in Congress and a new president.

I reply: How about you get your facts straight?

lets set the way back machine to 2008. Democrats had majorities in the House, Senate and had just won the presidency....

The possibilities seemed endless...AND...If you look at the record of the 111th congress it is outstanding...

Major legislation signed into law includes The affordable care act (Obaamacare), Dodd Frank, Lily Ledbetter fair pay act, SCHIP,The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, Fraud Enforcement and Recovery Act of 2009,Credit Card Accountability Responsibility and Disclosure Act of 2009,Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act and dozens of other bills that became law...Everyone of the above benefitted all US citizens.

Now in the 2010 midterms the Tea Party terrorists arrived in congress....

lets take a look at their record of accomplishments shall we?

" The 112th Congress is set to enter the Congressional record books as the least productive body in a generation, passing a mere 173 public laws as of last month. That was well below the 906 enacted from January 1947 through December 1948 by the body President Harry S. Truman referred to as the “do-nothing” Congress, and far fewer than even a single session of many prior Congresses" NY Times August 2011.

I would cite their accomplishments...but they have none...Oh Wait...they acted as economic terrorists and damaged America's credit rating...The Tea Party loons cheered at that news..

They voted over 80 times to repeal Obamacare...Each of these votes cost millions in salaries and expenses..

They votes dozens of times to try to outlaw abortion and cut funds to planned parenthood.

They spent tax dollars defending DOMA in court.....even after numerous losses....Get over it....The law is unconstitutional...

They railed against Don't Ask Don't tell....Guess what...they were wrong.

AND ....yes they blocked the veterans jobs bill.....All so President Obama might look good...

The 112th congress and it's leadership has been intimidated by the Tea Party Mob and abandoned the American people.

Ideology over America...That's your Republican Party.

This is not only my opinion but fact clearly demonstrated by their record.

"The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president"

-Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, quoted in National Journal, November 4, 2010.

That says it all.....
