Ruth Baird Shaw began a blog, Ruthlace, in 2006 at the age of 82, in order to write about her life growing up in the 1920s and 1930s. Her stories included memories of the Great Depression, World War II, and even farther back as she recalls stories her own mother shared with her of earlier times. She shares those now with all of us in the 256-page paperback “The Chronicles of Ruth.”

Baird Shaw is also the author of “Life with Wings” and “Recipes, Rhymes and Reflections.”

Since retiring to Rome she has served on the staff of Trinity United Methodist Church as Minister of Congregational Care for four years.

“The Chronicles of Ruth” is available at Barnes and Noble Booksellers, Dogwood Books and Antiques as well as online at amazon.com.

Dana Professor of English, Rhetoric and Writing at Berry College, Sandra Meek, released her fourth collection of poems in “Road Scatter.” Meek presents poems about both the personal and the political. Many of the personal poems recall her parents’ last days, and how difficult it was to watch them suffer. The political ones cover war and the destruction of a mosque.

Meek was recently awarded a grant by the National Endowment for the Arts and is the author of four books of poems, “Road Scatter,” “Biogeography,” winner of the Dorset Prize, “Burn,” and “Nomadic Foundations.”

“Road Scatter” is available locally at Barnes and Noble Booksellers as well as online at amazon.com and barnesandnoble.com.
