A Rome man was charged with felony possession of dangerous drugs after being pulled over for a seat belt violation, according to Floyd County Jail reports.

According to the report:

Lucas Lorenzo Waddell, 30, of 503 Brown St., was stopped Wednesday afternoon by Floyd County police near the intersection of Maple Street and East 14th Street.

The officer reported a strong smell of alcohol coming from the inside of the vehicle and the subject’s eyes were red and glassy.

Waddell stated that he had an open beer in the vehicle and, upon searching the vehicle, the officer found an open can of beer, a bottle of hydrocodone and a loose white pill in the passenger seat.

Waddell was also charged with misdemeanor counts of drugs not in their original container, driving under the influence, open container and safety belt violation.

He remained in jail Wednesday night without bond.
