The Floyd County Elections Office plans to set up seven electronic voting machines on the second floor of the County Administration Building, 12 E. Fourth Ave. Elections Clerk Vanessa Waddell said they’ll be available through Nov. 2, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the week.
“We’ll also have Saturday voting on Oct. 27, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.,” she said.
A second universal polling precinct will open from Oct. 29-Nov. 2 in the Rome Civic Center on Jackson Hill. Waddell said the office has fielded a number of questions about advance voting and she expects a fairly steady turnout.
“People who walked in at the last minute to register also heard about it and expressed interest,” she noted.
Tuesday was the last day to register to vote in the upcoming election.
Contested local races include the 14th Congressional District seat, two County Commission posts, a county school board post, the sheriff slot, the clerk of court office and the 12th State House District seat.
