The investigation has been on-going since July of this year and was conducted by the Bartow-Cartersville Drug Task Force.
According to information provided by the police department and the task force:
Stephen Curtis Chapman, age 41, and Sarah Chapman (Barber) had been working for the Floyd Healthcare Management system at the Floyd Urgent Care located on Joe Frank Harris Parkway in Cartersville. Mr. Chapman was terminated after allegedly stealing prescription pads. Mrs. Chapman was placed on administrative leave while an investigation was conducted.
Allegedly, Mrs. Chapman would forge illegal prescriptions which Mr. Chapman would fill at various pharmacies in the area. Mrs. Chapman allegedly duplicated patient names but changed the dates of birth on the prescriptions.
Twenty five charges have been placed against Mr. Chapman. Fourteen charges have been placed against Mrs. Chapman. The charges on both include fraudulently obtaining controlled substances, identity fraud, and party to the crime of distributing schedule II, III, and IV drugs. Among the drugs being obtained were hydrocodone, lortabs, soma and adipex.
