GBI Agent Joe Montgomery charged 33-year-old Joseph Matthew "Matt" Hayes with possession of cocaine, possession of Hydrocodone, violation of oath of office and two counts of theft by taking.
"Matthew Hayes Investigator with Chattooga County Sheriff's office did take drug evidence that was to be destroyed into his possession outside his duties as a police officer," GBI Agent Montgomery stated.
